STORIA DELLA CANZONE:
la poetessa Flower Adams scrisse i versi di questo inno nel 1841. Vennero usate diverse melodie per la canzone: in Inghilterra fu preferita la musica denominata “Horbury” mentre negli Stati Uniti venne usata “Bethany” di Lowell Manson.
Le prime registrazioni di “Nearer my God to Thee” risalgono al 1896. Alcune di esse sono le seguenti:
J. W. Myers (Belriner), Len Spencer (Columbia), Roger Harding (Columbia), Edison Concert Band (Edison).
Il brano venne usato anche nel film “Titanic”.
